The
Weight of My Love

We had a
potluck at my house for Thanksgiving and I had only been
in the piece for roughly 45 minutes before someone wanted
to peek into the sketchbooks. I couldn't say no and it quickly
became an essential part of the piece. I found that my sketchbooks
are very personal, more like a journal or diary with art
ideas mixed in. Topics may include my health, mundane to-do
lists, menstrual calendars, montly accomplishment lists
and of course the love life. 2006 proved to be a particularly
rough year. There was a lot of anxiety in the sketchbooks
of that year due to my having a light anaphlaxis response
to nuts (then adapting my diet and being afraid of things
I was eating). Sharing them with strangers was a very unique
experience that I may explore further in the future.
