Birth
name: Amy Ellen Trefsger
Current
Legal Name: Amy-Ellen Flatchestedmama
Trefsger
I had an early introduction to the mispronunciation and misspelling of
my last name, Trefsger, via the media attention I received from running
in high school. The letters in my last name f, s and g are not found together
anywhere else in the english language.
Years later, when starting my budding art career, I decided to use a moniker.
Having been influenced by feminist works, blessed with a below average
bra size and being equipped with over-abundant creativity, I landed upon
Flatchestedmama. I saw it as humorous, empowering and catchy,
so I ran with it. I also wanted the title cards accompanying my work to
be art pieces in and of themselves.
I legally adopted the name in on 9/3/04 in conjunction with my Commitment
Ceremony where I made a Public Declaration of Commitment to My
Creative Self. On September 18, 2004, I vowed to be a practicing
artist for the rest of my life, pursuing creativity for better or for
worse. The act of legally adopting my artist monicker was a way
for me to make my 'commitment to creativity' official. There was now some
bureaucracy behind it, which makes it serious business.
The IRS and my grandmother now write letters to Amy-Ellen Flatchestedmama
Trefsger. Word to my grandma. |
