Pairing the old medium of aerial advertising with new technology jargon. On September 5th, 2009, Flatchestedmama sent an aerial letter banner over the Seattle Center during a music and arts festival called Bumbershoot. Aerial letter banners are the antiquated format (before cell phones and social networking) for communicating brief, succinct messages.

The medium of aerial advertising is heavily intermingled with my childhood. I used to spend summers on the Jersey shore where aerial letter banners were seen on a routine basis. During the recent SeaFair events I witnessed an aerial banner and the idea was born.

Many thanks to John Carson of Sky Signs, Hollis Rendleman, Ben Sarao, Erin Shafkind,
AJ Gardner, Bob Redmond and Bumbershoot.
